We serve you in the environment of a castle, erected in the first half of the 13th century by Count Henrik of Dornberk and reconstructed in the 17th century by the nobleman Giovanni Maria Coronini.
We have a double tradition …
We stand at the confluence of two family traditions, dating back to 1982, when in the castle environment Ljuba and Zoran started creating magic flavours – always different, innovative and special, or sometimes simply traditional dishes from Goriška and Prekmurje regions of Slovenia, whereas Aleš’s grandmother worked as a cook in an ancient inn in Goriška brda.
When for a moment it seemed that the story was about to end, as their daughter Mateja chose to study tourism, even though she liked to help in the inn ever since she was a little, 7-year old girl, a turning point arrived.
As the saying goes, love passes through the stomach, and Renaissance castles are perfect for romantic adventures… and here is where Aleš and Mateja met, who continue the tradition of flavours since 2008.

We visited with my wife, and my older son. The place is special, is has the renaissance feeling…. massive wall and quiet. The service is slow, but the food is made with the heart- lamb chops were really good.
The chef of this place is a mechanic/engineer by training. He ended up in the kitchen by accident one day, and the rest is history. He found his true calling for sure. Some of our most memorable meals have been here. An absolute must.
